These tools don’t replace imaging. They complement it, filling in the functional picture that structural imaging can’t provide.
A Complement, Not a Replacement
It’s worth being clear about what functional neurology is not. It isn’t a replacement for traditional neurology or emergency care, and it isn’t meant to be. If you have symptoms that suggest a stroke, a tumor, or another acute structural issue, that still requires immediate traditional medical evaluation.
Functional neurology fills the space alongside traditional care, for patients whose symptoms persist even after structural causes have been ruled out. It’s often the next step for people who’ve already done the standard workup and are still searching for answers.
